Suspect in deadly Cathedral City Applebee’s shooting charged
One of the suspects in this weekend's shooting at Applebee's Grill and Bar in Cathedral City has been officially charged.
According to the District Attorney's Office, they filed one count of homicide for Willie Bustamante, 33. Bustamante was arraigned in court on Friday, where he pleaded not guilty to all charges of murder and a sentence-enhancing allegation of discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury.
Bustamante is being held on $1 million.
Cathedral City Police originally had arrested two suspects, but according to the DA's Office they did not file charges on the 2nd suspect "due to a lack of sufficient evidence".
The murder happened at the Applebee's restaurant on Date Palm Drive late Sunday night. According to Cathedral City Police, Bustamante shot and killed Ernesto Arroyo, 31, during a fight. Arroyo later died.
