One person hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in Coachella

A portion of Avenue 50 in Coachella was shut down Monday morning after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

The crash was reported at around 10:50 a.m. in the area of Avenue 50 and Cesar Chavez Street.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived to the scene and found a female lying in the roadway. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene.

The female was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, CAL FIRE confirmed.

The collision remains under investigation.

Avenue 50 west of Cesar Chavez to Ave De Oro was shut down due to the crash.
