Local businesses ready to welcome Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza & Museum in November

The long-awaited Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza and Museum in Downtown Palm Springs will open on November 3rd.

The surrounding businesses on E. Tahquitz Canyon Way are ready to welcome it and its visitors.

Just a few months back, The Spa at Sec-He opened up right next door. Since then, visitors from in and out of town have been flowing in.

“We were excited just to see activity over there. Because it's been a long time coming, that the fence has been up and nothing's really happening. So the fact that they opened up part of it, and that's that he opened up, we were excited to see that," said Dan Gore, who owns Oscar's in Downtown Palm Springs.

Oscar's sits just across the street from the new Cultural Plaza and Museum.

“It was just so great to see such an amazing first structure being there. And just to the area that the creative for you to walk through, you know, on the renderings are so excited. So exciting to see," Gore said.

He has been waiting a long time for it to get up and running. With its opening date in November, it’ll bring a boost in business as we get back into the busy holiday season.

“It's actually a Gay Pride weekend. So it's one of the busiest moments and all Palm Springs and all for the whole year. So it's a great time to open. So a lot of people be able to see that and enjoy our cultural here," Gore explained.

As a long-time Palm Springs resident, he says it’s a way to share the history and culture of the city and Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.

“The cultural part and history of it is very important... The history of the city. And the Indians being such a big part of our world, a big part of this area. It's very, it's invaluable for them to be able to show them show us and show the future what it was like at one time," he said.

The grand opening is set for Friday, November 3rd from 10am to 4pm.

The plaza and museum will celebrate the history, culture, and traditions of the Agua Caliente people.
