Firebirds looking forward to regular season opener this Friday
The Coachella Valley Firebirds had two preseason games scheduled this year. Friday's game was canceled due to the power outage and Sunday's game was a loss.
The good news is none of that really matters. What does matter is Friday's game and the rest of the regular season. The Firebirds open their 2023-2024 campaign this Friday at Acrisure Arena against the Bakersfield Condors.

As we all know, this is a team that reached the Calder Cup finals in their incredible inaugural season last year.
Even though there are many returners, the Firebirds did lose two players to the Seattle Kraken, beloved goaltender Joey Daccord and star forward Tye Kartye.
With that said, many of the core players will be here with some unfinished business.
The season opener will be broadcast live on our sister station the CW. Coverage starts with the pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. Puck drop is at 7.
