Staying above-seasonal for now

A ridge of high pressure over the southwest United States is continuing to boost temperatures above seasonal averages. An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for the valley as temperatures reach or even exceed 115° through Saturday.

This shifting ridge of high pressure is also responsible for the big dose of humidity we experienced this week. Conditions are drier to close out the work week but another influx of moisture is to come.

Moisture is set to push in from the east over the weekend. This moisture will increase cloud cover by Saturday and thunderstorm chances by Sunday.

At this time, possible thunderstorm activity is mostly expected for mountain and high desert communities. However, The First Alert Weather Team will continue to track the possibility of rainfall on the valley floor through the early part of next week as moisture sticks around.

This boost of moisture will help temperatures return to more seasonable territory through next week as well.
