Mild weekend ahead; widespread rain and risk of flooding returns early next week
Saturday will serve as a break from this week's unsettled weather pattern. Breezy winds will remain but mild conditions are expected for this weekend overall.
An incoming low-pressure system will push more moisture into SoCal on Sunday. Light rain could fall as early as Sunday morning but the best chance for widespread, moderate to heavy rainfall will be Monday and Tuesday.
A Flood Watch has been called for the valley in advance of the incoming rain which could lead to flooding, namely due to the already saturated soil. Total rainfall accumulation could reach 0.5 to 1.5 inch of rain.
A First Alert Weather Alert has been called for Monday and Tuesday due to the incoming rain which could increase the risk of threat of flooding.
Rainfall could linger through Wednesday before conditions briefly dry out on Thursday. Another round of rain is possible by next Friday.
This incoming storm system will also bring another round of high elevation snow and gusty winds to local mountain communities as early as Saturday through the middle of next week. Snow levels are expected to lower to 4,500 ft. by Wednesday. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Riverside County and San Bernardino County mountains from Saturday evening through Tuesday afternoon.
