Chlorine Leak Has Highway Closed

Leaking Chlorine gas from a freight train has Highway 62 closed to traffic in both directions today, East of Twentynine Palms. The California Highway Patrol says Highway 62 is closed from State Highway 177, east to U.S. 95 near the Arizona border. Emergency crews are also not being allowed on the road because of contamination

Cathedral City Power Outage

Southern California Edison is still trying to get power back to some customers in Cathedral City and Palm Springs. At one time 12-thousandhomes and businesseswere without power. It started in Cathedral City near East Palm Canyon and Date Palm just before seven this morning. Crews say that approximately 100 commercial customers are still without power.

Severe Storm, Flash Flood Warnings For Valley

Severe thunderstorm andflash flood warnings are ineffect forthe Coachella Valley and the surrounding areas, the National Weather Service said Tuesday afternoon. A flash flood warning has been issued for Indio and other area including but not limited to Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, and Coachella. That warning goes into effect until4:30 PM Tuesday afternoon.
