Leaking Chlorine gas from a freight train has Highway 62 closed to traffic in both directions today, East of Twentynine Palms. The California Highway Patrol says Highway 62 is closed from State Highway 177, east to U.S. 95 near the Arizona border. Southern California Edison is still trying to get power back to some customers in Cathedral City and Palm Springs. At one time 12-thousandhomes and businesseswere without power. It started in Cathedral City near East Palm Canyon and Date Palm just before seven this morning. Crews say that approximately 100 commercial customers are still without power.

Severe thunderstorm andflash flood warnings are ineffect forthe Coachella Valley and the surrounding areas, the National Weather Service said Tuesday afternoon.
