Sky Valley man accused of setting car on fire

CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officer and Riverside County Sheriff’s arrested a man last week for allegedly setting a vehicle on fire in Sky Valley.

It happened around 4 a.m. on August 30 on the 23000 block of Hot Springs Road.

55-year-old James Thompson Jr. of Sky Valley was arrested and taken to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning where he was booked on multiple charges including one count of arson to property and possession of flammable device for malicious use.

He was also arrested on suspicion of attempting to escape an offense by force or violence, but was not charged as such by prosecutors last week.

Thompson pleaded not guilty to all charges last week, he is due in court on September 13 for a felony settlement conference.

He is being held on $30,000 bail.
