Job Seekers attend Valley-wide Employment EXPO
Job seekers had the opportunity to speak to prospective employers at the 22nd Valley Wide Employment EXPO Thursday.
The job fair was held from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fantasy Springs Casino Event Center in Indio.
Nearly 100 employers attended the expo, providing job seekers opportunities to speak with many different companies including News Channel 3, a proud sponsor of the event. Our very own Jeff Stahl greeted people at our booth.
Prospective employees met directly with employers from a variety of different fields and did not need to register to attend the expo. However, organizers recommended that attendees apply online for the positions in which they’re interested prior to attending.
Applicants were also urged to bring several copies of their resume, as well as a driver’s license or other form of identification.
Coachella mayor Steven Hernandez says the expo is a good way to help fight unemployment in his city.
“There’s an opportunity for a job, there’s an opportunity to have some dignity because with work, there’s dignity in work.”
Employers such as the Indian Wells Country Club says a growing Coachella Valley is helping make more jobs available for them.
“It’s just gotten so big and it’s just we want to be part of the community and want to help people with new jobs and new employment and new careers,” says Robert Venegas of IW Country Club.
The county says over 2,000 people attended the job expo and this is the first time it’s been held at Fantasy Springs.
