Beaumont High School teacher accused of sex with student
A Beaumont High School teacher accused of having sex with a student has officially been charged.
During an investigation by a Beaumont Police detective, the victim disclosed that there has been unlawful sexual intercourse occurring for some months by a teacher.
The investigation further revealed there were inappropriate communications between the teacher and student through various messaging platforms.
The teacher, identified as 32-year-old Samantha Lee Ciotta, of Banning, was previously placed on administrative leave by the Beaumont Unified School District while the Beaumont Police Department conducted an investigation.
She was arrested on Sept. 20 and was later booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation with a minor.
Ciotta was released from custody on Sept. 21 after posting $150,000 bond.
In 2011, Ciotta was hired as a guest teacher and later as an English teacher at La Quinta High School. She resigned in good standing in 2015, according to Desert Sands Unified School District.
Ciotta has been charged with a felony of oral copulation of a person under 18 and two felonies of unlawful intercourse with a minor.
She is expected at the Banning courthouse on Dec. 27 at 8:30 a.m.
