Excessive heat warning through Saturday

An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for the Coachella Valley. Earlier today the warning was extended and is now set to expire at 8PM on Saturday. Temperatures near or above 115° are expected during this time.

A large ridge of high pressure continues to sit on top of the southwest United States. The ridge has been shifting across the region, but still giving us consistent days with excessively hot temperatures. These shifts have largely been responsible for the waves of moisture we have seen recently.

We are expecting another wave of moisture to start making its way into the Coachella Valley by Sunday and will continue into the beginning of next week. This excess moisture will both bring in milder temperatures closer to the seasonal average and increase the chance for storms. Storms are most likely to form over mountain and/or high desert communities, but rain in the valley cannot be ruled out.
