Live Entertainment Returns to Bernie’s: Outside
Local entertainer Chris Lomeli has been serenading people from afar since the pandemic closed bars and restaurants, and essentially shut down the music scene in the Coachella Valley. Each week, he has performed a virtual concert from Bernie's Lounge and Supper Club, though the establishment was closed. The owners opened the doors to him and special musical guests to perform on stage in an empty room to a virtual audience on Facebook.
That has come to an end with the word that Bernie's will reopen to take-out and drive-up carhop service on Friday. So now, instead of performing to an empty lounge, Lomeli will be performing to a live audience--in the parking lot!
Bernie's will reopen for carhop and carry-out dining on Friday, and owner's Geoff McIntosh and Rand Howell asked Lomeli to do his usual act, everything from Sinatra and Dean Martin to Bruno Mars, in the parking lot to entertain diners. Carhop trays just the ones from "Al's Place" on the TV show Happy Days will provide dining in the safety of patron's cars. Cocktails will be available for take-out only, and can't be consumed on property, but singer Lomeli will be there to keep diners entertained in a most unusual venue. He will perform Wednesdays through Sundays starting next week, with Bernie's reopening this Friday for their first weekend of food service since the Pandemic closed valley eateries.
