Temperatures stay warm this weekend

Friday, Palm Springs reached a high temperature of 97°. Today, temperatures will be warmer as a ridge of high pressure drifts overhead. The average temperature for the weekend is 94° and we will clock temperatures in the upper 90s.

The ridge of high pressure is expected to remain in place through Sunday. What we are tracking is a strong area of low pressure to the north that will bring significant moisture to Northern California. For us here in Southern California, we will feel gusty winds Sunday evening through Tuesday morning. Winds will reach near advisory levels, so we will continue to monitor any wind advisories that are issued for the Coachella Valley.

Even as a vigorous trough of low pressure moves into Northern California, we will still be feeling the effects of high pressure for the end of our weekend. A ridge of high pressure remains overhead for much of Southern California.

Winds will remain light for our Saturday, temperatures above average, and skies mostly sunny. Next week, we are tracking a couple of days with temperatures reaching into the 80s.
