Warm, sunny, and windy for some
Temperatures still above average through the weekend
The high temperature in Palm Springs today was 92° with an overnight low of 61°. The normal for this time of year should be a high of 77°. Temperatures will continue to stay above average and in the 90's through Sunday.
We broke the record high for Palm Springs of 89° from 2008.
An area of high pressure will keep pushing east. This is what is contributing to warm and sunny conditions across the region.
Offshore winds will pick up for some portions of Southern California overnight into Sunday. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for areas on coastal mountain slopes and valley corridors below passes and canyons will see northeast to east winds 20-30 mph with some gusts reaching to 50 mph. Minimum humidity will reach to 10% leading to elevated fire weather conditions.
The Red Flag Warning will begin at 1 a.m. Sunday and last through 6 p.m.
The pattern takes a major shift Tuesday as the first winter storm of the season arrives from the north. Temperatures across the desert will drop into the 60's with chances for rain moving in Wednesday and Thursday.
The weekend will continue to be warm with a slight cool down into the lower 80's Tuesday. The 60's move in by Wednesday afternoon.
