Man arrested for Coachella kidnapping
Authorities today announced the arrest of a 25-year-old Coachella man in connection with a weekend kidnapping and assault.
Christian Ortiz was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in the area of Highway 111 and Cook Street by the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force, which is investigating the March 3 crime that occurred in Coachella, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
No details regarding the kidnapping were released.
Ortiz was arrested without incident and booked on suspicion of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment, according to the sheriff’s department.
He was released from the Indio jail the same day after posting $55,000 bail and is expected to appear in court on April 30.
