Woman killed in early morning Indio crash identified

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash this morning on eastbound Interstate 10 between the Jackson Street and Golf Center Drive exits in Indio.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Natalia Moreno of Coachella, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

Moreno was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Spark on the interstate, and, for an unknown reason, began to veer off the right shoulder of the roadway. The car crashed into a tree and came to a stop.

Firefighters responded to the location about 1:35 a.m. and confirmed that Moreno was killed in the crash. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision, Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
