Sex offenders staying put in Moreno Valley
Police raided the homes of 95 registered sex offenders in the city of Moreno Valley and surrounding unincorporated areas last week, where they fond many offenders actually living where they were supposed to.
Members of the multi-agency Riverside County Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force, along with personnel from U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Moreno Valley police and sheriff’s station, found that at those 95 residences, 84 registered sex
offenders were found to be in compliance with their registration requirements.
The task force discovered that 11 other registrants were no longer living at the address they had previously provided to law enforcement. The SAFE Task Force will conduct additional investigation in an effort to locate and arrest those 11 sex offenders who are now in violation of the law.
This all-day operation was conducted on Wednesday, April 25, said SAFE spokeman John Hall.
The main objective of this and other such operations is to determine the accuracy of the residence information provided by each registered sex offender, as is required by law, he said.
Operations like this, which are done on a random basis throughout the county, are also intended to strongly remind registered sex offenders that law enforcement officials are actively monitoring their compliance.
The SAFE Task Force is a collaboration of law enforcement agencies including the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department
Riverside County Probation Department, California Department of Justice, and Corona Police Department.
