Bad smell at home in LaQuinta brings out bomb squad

An odor believed to have come from a La Quinta home prompted a call for a bomb squad, but no hazard was found, a fire spokesman said.

Firefighters were dispatched at 6:37 p.m. Saturday to the home in the 51700 block of Avenida Navarro.

Bomb squad members entered the home but could not find any unusual odor, Riverside County Fire Department spokesman Mark Annas said.

One person was taken to a hospital for evaluation, but no injuries were reported, Annas said. It was not disclosed whether the person lived at the home.

Firefighters ventilated the Avenida Navarro home as a precaution, Annas said.
