Pedestrian killed in DHS crash identified

A Desert Hot Springs man is dead after a collision between a pedestrian and a car Friday night.

The Coroner’s Officeidentified the man as 39-year-old, Desert Hot Springs resident, Jose Ramos.

CAL Fire reports the crash happened just after 8:40 p.m. in the southbound number two lane on the 13300 block of Palm Drive.

According to police, the driver stopped and was cooperating. They say the driver does not appear to have been speeding, and was not under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Police believe Ramos was jay walking when the crash happened.
