TRAFFIC ALERT: Traffic back to speed after overnight construction
An overnight traffic jam cleared up Friday morning eastbound at Jefferson Street in Indio.
Crews were pouring concrete early Friday morning just off the eastbound lanes.
Caltrans had said the work and eastbound freeway closure would be completed by 6 a.m. Friday morning, but traffic back up continued.
It was also slow for commuters entering the westbound freeway lanes at Jefferson Street from Indio Boulevard.
The westbound freeway ramp was closed, commuters forced to merge into eastbound freeway detour traffic, then turn left on Varner Road.
