Storefront of Lululemon upsets locals
The phrase “MILF” was popularized by the movie American Pie in 1999, but does it belong in a storefront?
Now the center piece of an advertising campaign at the Lululemon athletic store on El Paseo is a sign reading “Be a MILF” followed by, “Mother in love with fitness.”
Local resident, Nancy Berryhill is a frequent shopper and saw the sign this morning when driving. She says she may take her business elsewhere.
“My son buys me a gift certificate for mother’s day and my birthday every year, and he’s going to come here and he’s going to laugh,” says Berryhill. She thinks these signs might be expected at store locations in Las Vegas or Los Angeles but are not appropriate for El Paseo.
Neighboring store workers at the Estate Jewelry Collection say they don’t have a problem with it.
“We didn’t even know what the sign meant until a customer came in and told us. so you know, people can find bad in everything, but mother’s in love with fitness is great and their clothes are fabulous.”
News Channel 3 did reach out to Lululemon, but they declined to comment. They did, however, remove the signs within moments of us asking about them.
