Overnight construction again closes eastbound I-10 freeway lanes
UPDATE: Construction has ended for the night and all freeway lanes are open again as of 5:09 a.m.
————-
An overnight freeway closure was impacting traffic on eastbound Interstate 10 in Indio early Tuesday morning.
All eastbound freeway lanes were closed overnight, and traffic was being detoured off the freeway using the Jefferson off ramp.
Motorists were being detoured onto a frontage road then back onto the freeway at Monroe Street as crews worked on a second new bridge now under construction at the Jefferson Street Interchange.
Westbound I-10 traffic was not impacted by the closure.
Eastbound traffic was expected to be detoured until the project wrapped up for the day by 6:00 a.m. Tuesday.
No major delays were being reported as of 4:00 a.m., but traffic typically picks up at 5:00 a.m., so motorists were urged to use caution.
