First responders use Narcan to save Yucca Valley man overdosing on fentanyl
Deputies and medics used Narcan to save a man who was overdosing on fentanyl last week in Joshua Tree.
The incident was first reported at around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 10. Authorities said deputies were called to Oleander Drive in Joshua Tree to respond to a drug overdose.
"Upon arrival, the male subject was located inside the bathroom of the residence, unresponsive, due to a suspected fentanyl overdose," reads a news release by the Morongo Sheriff's Station.
Deputies administered two doses of Nasal Naloxone (Narcan) to reverse the effects of the overdose. The subject, a 39-year-old from Yucca Valley, briefly regained consciousness but fell back out of consciousness.
Morongo Basin Ambulance (MBA) and San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived at the residence and administered a third dose of Nasal Naloxone, authorities said.
The man regained consciousness again and was transported to the Hi-Desert Medical Center (HDMC) for further treatment.
