Border Patrol Seizes $110,000 Worth Of Marijuana

INDIO – Border Patrol agents working the Indio checkpoint on Highway 86 seized 135 pounds of marijuana, worth $110,000 on the street.

The canine team alerted agents to the truck on the vehicle, where investigators found 132 vacuum sealed bags containing marijuana.

The driver of the mini-van was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

“This is a testament of Border Patrol’s effectiveness,”said El Centro Chief Patrol Agent Jeffrey A. Calhoon. “It shows how our checkpoints are a valuable tool when it comes to establishing a second line of defense for stemming the flow of dangerous narcotics into our country.”
