Power Outage Sends Indio High School Students Home

INDIO -Indio High Schools students were let home early today, as a power outage interrupted their finals schedule. Students were sent home around 9:30 a.m. after the school lost power.Today was a minimum day, scheduled to end at noon.

Two buses were available for the bus riders. Students with cars drove home, other students walked. The phones at the schools are not working so only students with cell phones could call parents for rides. Some walked across the street to the Indio Teen Center to wait for parents who were scheduled to pick them up at noon.

The school will extend the semester by one additional day to allow the students to complete their finals.

The school has no phone service currently, so the district sent out an automated voice message to all families. School is expected to resume tomorrow.
