Brief Standoff Ends After Palm Springs Attack

A man was pistol-whipped in a fight in Palm Springs, and two suspects were behind bars today, police said.

Johan Hernandez, 19, and Orlando Chavez, 21, both of Palm Springs, were locked up on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Palm Springs police Office Melissa Desmarais said.

The fight in the 500 block of Mountain View Drive was reported about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, she said. The 23-year-old victim was treated for a head injury but expected to be OK, Desmarais said.

Police arrested Hernandez and Chavez in a search of the area.
