Cathedral City Man Faces Charges For Counterfeiting Money

Cathedral City police arrested a man early Friday morning after a local restaurant tipped them off to a possible counterfeit operation.

Workers at the Applebees on Date Palm Drive called police regarding a customer trying to pass fake U.S. currency. He left before police got there, but investigators gathered enough information to determine who he was, and where he lived.

They connected the counterfeit money with several other incidents, obtained a search warrant and conducted a search of his home where they found more counterfeit currency.

David Dotson, 33, was arrested and booked in the Indio Jail.

He is also being investigated by the Palm Springs Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service for more than twenty similar cases.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident please call the Cathedral City Police Department at (760) 770-0303.
