Suspected Burglar Caught After Loading Appliances Into Moving Van

Police in Coachella have some persistent witnesses to thank for helping track down a pair of suspected burglars in Coachella on Monday.

The witnesses called in the burglary happening on the 48000 block of Agua Caliente at around 1:20 p.m. They old dispatchers they saw two men removing appliances from a home loading them into a van backed up into the driveway.

The suspects saw the witnesses and took off in the van. The witnesses followed, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies, but stopped when the passenger jump out of the van while it traveling at 20-30 miles-per-hour.

The witnesses got out of their car and held him until police arrived. He was taken to a local hospital and treated and released for minor injuries.

Detectives assumed the investigation, and they obtained information that led to the whereabouts of the driver and the van.

David Jose Moya, 49, of Coachella was arrested and the stolen property was recovered.

Moya was booked at the Indio Jail for residential burglary. The investigation determined the passenger was not involved in the burglary and he was released.
