Suspect Shot And Killed By Hemet Police Officer

A man who allegedly stabbed another man at a Hemet trailer park today was fatally shot during a confrontation with police officers.

The shooting occurred just before 11 a.m. at the Desert Palms Mobile Home Park at 1097 N. State St., according to Hemet police Lt. Duane Wisehart.

“It started out as a disturbance call,” he said. “Officers arrived, and there was an officer-involved shooting.”

The suspect, whose identity was not immediately released, died at the scene.

According to Wisehart, the man stabbed a resident of the mobile home park with a knife.

The victim was taken to nearby Hemet Valley Medical Center, but his condition was not immediately known, nor was it immediately clear whether the suspect and victim were related.

“There are lots of witnesses, and we’re still trying to gather all the details,” Wisehart said.
