Torrential Rains Sends Bridge In Danger Of Collapsing
A heavily used bridge in California’s San Bernardino County collapsed Wednesday morning as California’s winter storm claims more damage.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy Glann Stater said overnight downpours swelled already-saturated grounds and waterways, and led to Wednesday morning’s bridge failure.
Stater told a local newspaper he was crossing the Boulder Avenue Bridge at 7:42 a.m. on Wednesday, which crosses the Santa Ana River.
He said he saw cement breaking off the bridge right before a center section gave way and fell into the river.
Not too far away in the town of Highland, people woke up to realize their homes were being flooded.
