Travelers Wanting To Get Back East Face A Snowstorm Of Cancellations
Some holiday travelers are stranded at Southern California airports on Monday because of a blizzard on the East Coast that is causing flight delays and cancellations, and the temporary closure of some airports in the Northeast.
Delta, American, Alaska and Jet Blue are among the airlines with flights from Los Angeles International Airport that were delayed or canceled due to inclement weather and airport closures in the Northeast, according to the Los Angeles World Airports.
Holiday travelers heading to New York, Boston and Philadelphia, among other destinations, were stranded at LAX because of the blizzard, which is expected to dump at least a foot of snow along the East Coast.
At Palm Springs International Airport, there were no cancellations, but some travelers found their connecting flights out of Phoenix and Denver were canceled. That forced them to choose to stay in Palm Springs or take a chance and fly to their connecting city.

JFK International in New York, Newark International and Bradley International in Connecticut are among the airports closed through the afternoon, while Caldwell Wright Airport in Essex County New Jersey is expected to be shut down until Monday night.
The blizzard also prompted the NFL to postpone Sunday night’s scheduled nationally televised football game between the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles at Philadelphia until Tuesday night.
