Desert Hot Springs Mobile Home Fire Leaves Two Families Homeless
One person was hospitalized today following a fire that destroyed a mobile home and heavily damaged another in an unincorporated county area near Desert Hot Springs.
No injuries were initially reported, but a woman suffering from the apparent effects of smoke inhalation was taken to a hospital around 5:30 p.m.
A second mobile home sustained major damage, with fire burning through 40 percent of the structure, according to the Riverside County Fire Department, which reported that a total of nine people were displaced.
The fire at the Corkill Park mobile home park at 17989 Corkill Road was reported at 1:11 p.m., fire department spokesman Mike Smith said.
The cause of the fire, which took about 20 minutes to extinguish, was under investigation, Smith said.
