Shooting at House Party Sends One to Hospital
A suspect was arrested Sunday for a shooting incident in Desert Hot Springs, police said.
Officers were sent at 3:06 a.m. to a reported assault in the 13,000 block of Hacienda Heights Drive. Police told KESQ that the shooting occurred at a house party. When officers arrived, they discovered that the man who had been shot was already at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, said Sgt. Ken Peary of Desert Hot Spring Police Department.
Authorities later located and arrested Joe Alexander Hernandez, 18, accused of the shooting.
The shooting victim was expected to survive.
Hernandez was booked into Banning Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm. No word yet from officers of what led up to the shooting.
Police are still investigating. They say the shooting was not gang related.
