Palm Desert Power Outage Causes Big Backups
At one point, 350,000 Southern California Edison customers were without power on Thursday morning, creating a snarl of a commute for drivers.
The traffic signals at Warner Trail and Fred Waring and Washington St. and Fred Waring were both out, forcing drivers to stop one-at-a-time. That translated into a back-up that stretched far down the busy Fred Waring.
Two schools in the area had power, but the traffic getting there made it challenging for some parents taking their kids.
SCE officials restored power by 9 a.m.
