Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Dept. Mourns Loss Of Paramedic

The firefighting family of Cal Fire and the Riverside County Fire Dept. will remember the life of firefighter and paramedic Dave Lezchuk on Tuesday after he lost his battle with brain cancer.

Lezchuk succumbed to his fight on May 11 after a long career on firefighting.

Most recently Lezchuk was a Fire Apparatus Engineer-Paramedic and was assigned to the Sky Valley fire station. Before that, he was asasigned to Battalion 12 and served the cities of Palm Desert, Indian Wells and Rancho Mirage.

His talents went far beyond that of firefighting. Cal Fire leaders pointed to his experience as a flight medic, SWAT medic, rescue diver, EMS instructor and his passion for family.

He is survived by his wife Melissa, his sons Bryndon, Jeremy and Zachary and his daughter Madison. He is also survived by his mother Patricia Whitman and father and step-mother William and Margaret Lezchuk.

A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 74-200 Country Club Drive in Palm Desert.
