Injured Hiker Rescued From Palm Desert Trail

A woman who twisted her ankle on a popular local trail was airlifted to a hospital today.

Riverside County and Cal Fire firefighters hiked to the woman at the Mirage Trail, locally known as the “Bump and Grind” trail, near Painters Path and Fred Waring Drive about 6:40 a.m. and had a helicopter take her to a hospital, county fire spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.

The rescue operation took about two hours, she said.
