Abducted Indio Baby Found Safe Near Tucson, Arizona

Indio police say officials in Arizona have found a 4-month-old child, who was abducted by her mother from a daycare center Friday morning.

The child’s father says 36 year-old Sybil Jenkins does not have custody of their child, Sophie Trice.

Police spokesman Ben Guitron told News Channel 3 they found the mother’s vehicle around 11:27 a.m. Saturday, east of Tucson, with the mother and child inside.

Officals arrested Jenkins and took the baby to the local child protective services.

Sophie has been checked out and is fine.

Police say Jenkins took the child from a daycare center on the 81700 block of Arthurs Court around 8:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Investigators plan to extridite her back to California where she could face several felonies in conjunction with the abduction. Police also say the car she took off in was stolen out of Palm Springs.

Another suspect was reportedly inside the car with Jenkins, but there’s no word on that person’s whereabouts.
