Fire at Palm Desert apartment complex

A fire broke out at a Palm Desert apartment complex early Wednesday morning, according to Riverside County Fire.

It started around 7:30 a.m. at the Desert Oasis apartment complex on the 77-700 block of Country Club.

First crews on scene reported seeing smoke coming from the roof of one of the buildings and found a fire ina center apartment, according to Melody Hendrickson with Riverside County Fire.

Firefighters axed their way into the roof andcontained the fire within minutes.

Theyremained on scene to mop up and investigate.

Three units were damaged by the fire, leaving 12 people now looking for a place to stay. The Red Cross is helping them out.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.

No word yet and what sparked the fire.
