Thousands of flowers drop to honor fallen heroes

Red and white carnations fell from the sky over Palm Springs Monday afternoon.

3,000 of the flowers dropped from a B-25 as part of the Palm Springs Air Museum’s annual Memorial Day tribute.

Hundreds of people of all ages gathered to witness the annual event honoring our men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

The white carnations are for veterans who died in World War I, WW II, Korea and Vietnam, and the red carnations honor those who died in the Persian Gulf, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan.
