Wildfire contained in hills north of Banning
More than 100 Riverside county and U.S. Forest Service firefighters contained a wildfire north of Banning Monday morning.
Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said the fire blackened 50 acres before it was surrounded by fire lines at 10:30 a.m.
The so called “Bluff 2” fire was first reported shortly after 8 a.m.
The fire did not threaten any structures or U.S. Forest Service land,
according to the Forest Service, and no one was injured or evacuated.
The cause was under investigation.
The forest service initially dispatched 5 of its fire engines to the scene along with 5 engine crews from the city of Perris, a water dropping helicopter and aerial tanker.
The fire was first reported near Bluff street and Dorianna Lane.
It was burning near, but not on San Bernardino National Forest Service land.
By late Monday morning it was no longer a threat to national forest service land. Firefighters were under the command of CalFire Riverside.
