Emergency road repairs close 2 freeway lanes
Motorists were cautioned to expect a slowdown along Interstate 10 in Palm Springs Friday where Caltrans work was expected to close two lanes of the freeway just west of Indian Canyon Drive.
Caltrans crews were scheduled to make emergency repairs to the freeway’s two eastbound slow lanes and the right shoulder after Thursday night’s hay truck fire there, according to Shelli Lombardo, a Caltrans Maintenance spokeswoman.
The fire caused damage to the asphalt road bed when the big rig burned Thursday evening.
Lombardo said the emergency road repair work should be completed by 3 p.m. today.
She warned motorists to be aware of the work and slow for the cone zone.
