4 people homeless after early morning duplex fire in Indio

Four people are without homes Friday after an early morning fire destroys the duplex they were living in.

According to Cal Fire, they say they got a call around 4:15 a.m. Friday morning of smoke coming from a home on the 44-700 block of King Street in Indio. When they arrived on scene they reported that the 2100 square foot duplex was on fire.

Cal fire says they were able to contain the blaze about 40 minutes later. Both units sustained extensive damage from the flames and smoke. The cause is still under investigation.
