Palm Desert man accused of several burglaries across the Coachella Valley
A Palm Desert man suspected in a rash of burglaries including allegedly loading a stolen golf cart with stolen items, remains behind bars.
Kenneth Keaneau Kick, 20, was arrested shortly after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday
in Palm Springs. He was allegedly responsible for multiple vehicle and
residential burglaries and was suspected in other crimes that are under
investigation, Palm Springs police Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said.
Police responded to a vehicle burglary that was reported at the
Cathedral Canyon Country Club in Palm Springs shortly after 5 a.m., and
discovered several more burglaries and thefts had occurred in the vicinity
within the hour.
Up to 20 burglaries and thefts had been committed in the area
of the country club, Palm Springs View Estates and the Palm Oasis Condos on
Bolero Road, Kovaleff said.
Officers got a suspect description, and a sergeant saw Kick walking near
Cree and Carey roads. Kick ignored the sergeant’s commands to stop and ran
off, climbing over several walls.
Kick was detained a few blocks away, and allegedly had stolen property
and methamphetamine, Kovaleff said.
He said investigators determined Kick committed several vehicle thefts
and burglaries. In one instance, Kick stole a golf cart and drove from place to place, loading the cart with stolen items, Kovaleff said.
Police recovered the cart, most of the items and a stolen vehicle. Kovaleff said there were two female suspects involved in the burglaries whose
whereabouts were unknown.
Kick was transported to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in
Banning, where he was being held on $75,000 bail.
He was expected to be arraigned Friday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, according to jail records.
