Suspect identified in Indio officer-involved shooting
A man who was reportedly carrying a gun along an Indio street was recovering Monday night after an officer-involved shooting.
Police later identified the suspect as Guadalupe Rivera, 32, of Indio.
A caller to Indio Police reported a man with a gun around 9 p.m. wearing dark clothing and a backpack walking up and down the 82100 block of Valencia Avenue between Monroe and Sun Gold.
Police responded and found Rivera along the 44500 block of Sun Gold Street, near Indio Boulevard then shot him when he refused their orders.
Three officers were involved in the incident. None were hurt. No bystanders were hurt. All three officers were placed on paid administrative leave pending a department review of the shooting.
Rivera was taken to a local hospital, and was in critical but stable condition.
