Police arrest Palm Springs home burglary suspect

Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for burglarizing a Palm Springs home.

Robert Anthony Newton, 21, allegedly burglarized a home located on Mel Avenue on Wednesday.

The victims called police after arriving home and saw the Cathedral City man taking off in his car.

Police were able to make an arrest just minutes later. Officers say Newton had methamphetamines in his possession.

Newton was out of custody on bail for a separate burglary and drug arrests.

He’s now being held on $100,000 bail.
