Prominent Chicago businessman struck and killed in Rancho Mirage
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department says 74-year-old Barry Lind of Rancho Mirage died early Thursday morning at a local hospital after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the street.
Officers from the Rancho Mirage Police Department responded to a report of a collision involving pedestrian in the area of Bob Hope Drive and Gerald Ford Drive in Rancho Mirage.
The investigation determined a grey Honda Fit was traveling southbound on Bob Hope Drive when it struck a male pedestrian, who was walking eastbound in the roadway south of Gerald Ford Drive.
The north and southbound lanes of Bob Hope Drive were closed for a little more than an hour, while the collision was investigated.
Lind was a prominent Chicago businessman. We’re told he was the managing partner of Silver Young Capital, a discount broker and a leading voice in the futures industry for many years.
No charges have been filed against the motorist and the investigation continues.
