Pilot critically injured in San Jacinto paraglider crash

A paraglider crashed Sunday on a ridge near San Jacinto and the pilot was flown to a hospital with major injuries, a fire department spokeswoman said.

Firefighters raced to the Church of Scientology property at Soboba and Gilman Springs roads after receiving a call at 1 p.m. about the downed paraglider, Riverside County Fire spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

A fire helicopter flew the injured man out.

The man was critically injured, Hendrickson said. The fire department had no information about how the crash happened, and very-light aircraft are not regulated by any agency.
