Border patrol seizes $212,000 in marijuana

Border patrol agents arrested six men Tuesday morning after discovering them attempting to smuggle 265 pounds of marijuana into the United States.

Agents first noticed the men around 6 a.m., 18 miles west of the Calexico West Port of Entry near Highway 98. Agents tracked the men through the remote desertterrainbefore making contact with them.

The six men were arrested after agents discovered they were carrying 265.7 pounds of marijuana in 5 burlap sacks. Authorities estimated the value of the drugs at $212,000 dollars.

The six men, identified as Mexican nationals, and marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
