Dust advisory issued for the Coachella Valley

The South Coast Air Quality Management Districtissued a dust advisory today for the Coachella Valley because of gusty windsblowing dust and sand.

The winds caused particle concentrations in the air to reach anunhealthy level for sensitive groups, which include people with respiratory orheart disease, the elderly and children. Concentrations were expected remainaround that level through the end of the day, according to the advisory.

In areas affected by dust, everyone should avoid vigorous outdoor orindoor exertion and those considered in sensitive groups should stay inside,according to the AQMD.
