Softball-size rock thrown at vehicle in Palm Springs
Police are looking for at least two suspects who they believe are responsible for throwing rocks and hitting a car on Highway 111 in Palm Springs.
Palm Springs police responded at about 1 a.m. Saturday when they learned a softball-size rock broke through the right rear passenger window of a sedan traveling on Highway 111, about a quarter-mile north of Gateway Drive.
Police say a woman from Orange County was driving her sleeping 13-year-old and 6-year-old daughters to the Palm Springs area when the rock shattered the window.
The rock ended up wedged into the right rear seat, an inch above the head of the 6-year-old child. The shattered glass left the 6-year-old child with a minor cut to the foot.
The mother drove to a safe location and immediately notified police. If you have any information regarding this rock-throwing incident, you’re urged to contact the Palm Springs Police Department at 760-323-8115 or Valley Crime Stopper at 760-341-STOP.
